hello!!! happy new year!
its been a great week! Things are so good right now. we focused a lot of our efforts on finding new people to teach but we were still able to teach a lot as well. Alyssa is doing amazing. she is keeping all her commitments and going beyond that. we were able to take her to the temple grounds this week and it was so cool. she watched the Joseph Smith movie and loved it and it was just an amazing day. she got to hear a testimony from Thomas S. Monson and later we found out that when she got home she prayed and asked if Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet and she said she knows he is. we didn't even ask her to pray about it. it was amazing! her testimony just grows and grows each time we meet with her. On Sunday it was her third time at church and she got up and bore her testimony! I was so shocked and it was such a good testimony. she talked about faith and how much its grown since she's been meeting with us and she talked about praying and knowing that the bom is true and joseph smith is a true prophet and wow! it was just so cool!!! I love being a part of this work and seeing people changing their lives and building up their testimony. it is incredible.
Laura from Chichester is no longer getting baptized. Sis boleska called the other day and said she backed out...again. I don't understand why cause she has a testimony. I got permission to call her and talk to herabout it and she practically bore her testimony but something is just holding her back from getting baptized so I don't know what will happen with her. it breaks my heart that she has come so close to getting baptized twice now and she keeps backing out. the fact that I can't even see her makes it even harder so I don't know what will happen.
thursday was the worst and yet the best day so far on my mission. we dedicated the whole day basically to finding people and it was not going well. people were being so rude to us and swearing at us and yeah... it was bad. I've never really gotten frustrated when finding people but it was just a rough day for some reason. that night we had a teach with kim (a less active) and then we were going knocking but the entire time we were at kims I felt like we needed to change the street we were planning to knock . we were close to our flat so we went back and prayed and picked a street and we had to take the bus to get there but the bus didn't show up so we went contact walking till the next bus came but that bus didn't show either so we went back to the flat to pray again about another street to knock. it was so wierd. I was getting absolutely nothing. I didn't know where we were supposed to go. we were on our knees for nearly half an hour I think. it was unreal but we wanted to make sure we went to the right place and then we finally both felt right about a street. probably the fourth door we knocked on was this guy jo. Jo is so cool! he looks just like Usher haha he ended up taking us out to dinner and we talked to him forever about prayer and his beliefs. he is a former muslim now a christian. he was so excited to meet with us again too. it was a miracle that we met him!! so then, last night we went to meet with this guy we set up an appointment for but he didn't let us in. we were on the same street as jo's house so we decided to stop by cause he told us to come over on sunday anyway but when he talked to us he didn't want to meet us and didn't let us in so then as we were walking away we heard someone yelling and turned around and didn't see anyone and then kept walking and then we heard it again and it was Jo!! he told us to come back in half an hour to teach him. we taught him the restoration and a lot about prayer and committed him to pray about the book of mormon. the start of the teach was a little crazy and he didn't seem too interested but I think we got him at the very end!! the spirit was so strong and you could tell something changed in him by the end. it was so amazing. his schedule is a little crazy but hopefully we'll be meeting with him soon.
this week was good though! I love it here. we've set up a lot of appointments with new people for this next week so hopefully we will have new investigators. thank you for the letters and everything!! I love all the support. Love ya so much!!
love, sister gregson
