Hiya!

February 7, 2011

hey! sorry about last week! you didn't get my email? I sent one to you so I don't know why you wouldn't have gotten it but I just resent it so lucky you, you get two this week:) this week was so good!!! definitely made up for last week. last week was pretty rough. this week was amazing though! for one my comp is officially lice free haha hooray! that was such a mess. alyssa is as well. apparently dying your hair gets rid of it....who knew?

I don't know if I ever told you about Robert. we stopped him on the street one of my first days here and we usually meet up with him about once a week. sometimes not even that because he has a crazy work schedule, for the next 3 weeks he onle gets 3 days off. he is awesome though. he is 23 years old and has never had a belief in God but he's so curious about it all and he always reads the bom and has tons of questions about it. his questions are so hard to answer, I can't figure out the way he thinks but i love meeting with him. we hadn't been able to see him for a couple weeks now but this last week he had two days off in a row so we met up with him and taught him. it was really good. He is such a good guy. he even took us to lunch. we want to try and take him to the temple visitors centre soon he says it sounds scary haha but i think it would really help him in his life. he says he feels awkward when he prays so we're just trying to encourage him to continue to do it so he feels comfortable with it. it is so hard to meet with him because of his job but he texted us the other day and said he quit! so now we'll be able to meet with him more!

we have a baptism coming up this week!!! her name is angie and she is amazing! her and her mom have decided to get baptized the same day, her mom is in the slough area so it will be a district baptism! angie is amazing. she accepts everything we teach her. she is so excited to get baptized. every time she talks about it she just lights up. it is amazing. the spirit is so strong whenever we teach her. more and more i am feeling the spirit work through me when i am teaching people. I love it. all these scriptures come to my mind that I need to share and bearing testimony. it's the best. last time we met with her angie started talking about how she feels safe when she goes to her home and she feels like it is because the spirit is there and we started talking about how that will increase as she builds her relationship with Jesus Christ and as we were talking about this the spirit was so strong and she just started crying. tears of joy!! it was amazing!!!!! she accepts everything. we're hoping to take her to the temple on saturday and then her baptism will be on sunday in slough.

we've also been teaching this portuguese family, the Gomez's. luis-the dad, and andre jamie and lucas are his sons. I may have mentioned them before. they are taking a lot of patience. sister allred has been teaching them before i got here. they've been taught EVERYTHING and they still don't know what they think so we're taking a new approach. they believe the bible but they're not sure about the bom so we've decided to start teaching them stories about the bible and then the bom. we taught david and goliath the other day. it was awesome! sister allred and i wanted to make it fun because andre doesn't ever stay in the room so we trying to make him want to be there. we taped a bunch of papers together and made it about 7 feet tall and then I drew a big goliath on it. It turned out pretty cool i will admit! i was excited about it. so we took that and told them the story and then we asked questions after and whoever answered it right got to throw a stone (a wad of paper) at the goliath and try to hit his forehead. it turned out to be a lot of fun and I think it will help them get more excited about it. luis and jamie want to come to church and they always pray. lucas has gotten more excited about it after this last week so now we just need to figure out what to do for andre because they can't come to church unless all of them agree to. we're teaching them about moses parting the red sea tonight so hopefully they will enjoy it!

we did an exchange this week! I went to addlestone with sister preistley. it was so much fun! sis priestley is way cool and it was an amazing day. we taught this kid, kap, that they've been teaching for a while. he wants to be baptized but he stuggles living the word of wisdom and so sis priestley was excited to have me there to teach him because she wanted him to hear a 'fresh testimony' and see if I could think of how to help him. I felt a little bit of pressure going inot the teach but it went so well! once again i felt the spirit SO strongly. It is so much more present in my teaches now. i feel like i am truly and instrument in God's hands. it is an amazing feeling. it was a great lesson, we just taught restoration which is my favorite lesson to teach. i love sharing the first vision. i also told him about the opposition that Joseph Smith faced before he saw God and that really helped kap get a better understanding of it I think. It was so amazing.

I had a really great week! i really gotta go but thanks for everything!! love you so much!  hope you're all doing well :)
